Early warning for coolant loss and charging-system problems

CarSense is a 12V vehicle monitoring system designed to give you an earlier warning of two problems that can become expensive very quickly: a falling coolant level and abnormal battery or charging voltage.

A conventional temperature gauge depends on coolant transferring heat to the temperature sensor. If a hose, radiator or cooler loses coolant, air or steam may surround that sensor and delay the warning. CarSense monitors the level at the expansion tank with a separate external sensor, helping alert the driver when the coolant level drops.

Coolant-level protection

• External sensor monitors the coolant level at the expansion tank or reservoir.
• Immediate audible warning from the piezo buzzer inside the control module.
• The physical buzzer can alert you even when your phone is not connected.
• Mobile-app notifications include an optional critical alarm that can override the phone’s silent mode.

Battery and charging monitoring

• Live battery-voltage and charging-system monitoring through the CarSense app.
• Configurable low-voltage and overcharge thresholds for lead-acid, AGM and lithium battery setups.
• Alerts can help identify a weak battery, charging failure, overcharging, regulator problems or belt-related charging issues.
• One-minute voltage history helps you review battery and charging behaviour and may assist in identifying abnormal parasitic drain.

Smart data and updates

• Stores the most recent 60 minutes of data while your phone is away, then synchronises when reconnected.
• Bluetooth app provides live readings, alert configuration and logging history.
• Over-the-air firmware updates allow future fixes and feature improvements.
• Low current draw of approximately 0.021A, with sleep mode after 10 minutes when Bluetooth is disconnected and/or voltage drops below the charging threshold.

Installation overview

The system includes an external coolant-level sensor and an internal electronic control module. The sensor mounts just below the maximum level on the coolant reservoir. The main module must be installed inside the vehicle cabin because it is not waterproof. Its power cable connects directly to the 12V battery, and the sensor cable is routed through an existing firewall grommet.

Important: CarSense is a secondary monitoring aid and does not replace factory gauges, warning lights, routine coolant checks or mechanical maintenance. It cannot detect every failure, including an internal cooler failure where coolant and oil mix while liquid remains present in the expansion tank. Correct installation and secure mounting are essential.
